Mr Babajide is the chairman of Legacy Holdings, a group of companies which started as Legacy Realties Limited in 1997. He provided the strategic vision and direction for the company and oversaw the operations and investment strategies. Subsequent to the economic recession between 2009/2012, he successfully oversaw the total restructuring of the company and streamlined operations into smaller operating semi- autonomous units.
Prior to starting the company, he worked with Texaco Inc's Nigerian subsidiary
(TOPCON), where he was the contracts coordinator, heading the Legal and Contracts section of the Operations Department in Warri, Delta State of Nigeria.
‘Jide as he is popularly called, is a qualified legal practitioner having bagged LLB. (Hons.) from the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and having been called to the Nigerian Bar. He is also an alumnus of Lagos Business School and Cranfield School of Management, UK.
Though, a lawyer by training who had the benefit of practicing with Babalakin & Co, Jide saw the future of real estate development within the Lekki/Ajah axis of Lagos State when the area was largely undeveloped. His Company was a pioneer in that field and successfully developed estates such as Ocean Bay Estate, lafiaji, Lekki and Heritage Place, Sangotedo, Ajah, Lagos both of which are thriving communities today.
Babajide Odusolu, an indigene of Ode-Lemo, a town in the Sagamu South LCDA of Ogun state heeded the call of the astute and indefatigable governor of Ogun state – Senator Ibikunle Amosun FCA CON, to become the special adviser on properties & investments with direct management responsibility for Ogun State Property and Investments Corporation (OPIC) on the 24th June, 2013, a capacity in which he continues to serve till date.
With the mentoring and hands-on leadership of His Excellency Ibikunle Amosun, the Governor of Ogun State, ‘Jide and his team at OPIC, were able to revive the comatose Gateway Paradise City, Shagamu interchange, Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Ogun State, a project abandoned by the Daniel administration in 2006/2007 and same has been turned into the NEW MAKUN megacity with international standard infrastructure. So transformative was the effort that New Makun City which is now divided into commercial and residential outlets has been fully sold out with over five hundred housing units at varying stages of development and at least four (4) international investors setting up shop in the city.
Other notable developments which have been successfully undertaken by OPIC or are in their final stages of completion under the leadership direction of Governor Ibikunle Amosun within the last six (6) years include rehabilitation of OPIC Industria Estate, Agbara / Igbesa, development of MTR Gardens, Isheri, Orange Valley Estate, Abeokuta and redevelopment of the Gateway Annex, Abeokuta now known as Mitros Residences @ Gateway Annex.
Mr. Odusolu like his boss the governor, detests the word “impossibility” and believes everything is possible when one adopts the right attitude and dares to put in the required hard work.
He is happily married to Lauretta and they have two children.
