The Lagos State Ministry of Education has reaffirmed that schools in the state remain indefinitely closed as a result of the rise in COVID-19 pandemic cases.



Recall that the state ministry of education had earlier announced Monday, 4 January, 2021 as resumption date for schools in the state, but days later the governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced the indefinite closure of schools in the state.
 
In a chat with newsmen on Sunday, the Public Affairs Officer of State Ministry of Education, Mr. Kayode Abayomi stated made the clarification on resumption date of schools in the state.
He said, “First and foremost, let me wish you all a happy new year. I pray it shall be our year of fulfilled expectations.

“Please, recall that the Ministry of Education earlier announced 4th of January as resumption date for the second term 2020/2021 academic session but this has since been overtaken by the turn of events due to the recent waves of Covid-19 Pandemic.

“As a result of this, Mr. Governor announced the indefinite closure of all schools.

“To this end, kindly be informed that a new date of resumption will be announced as soon as possible.”
