Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo FIIM, said this when the executives of Itoku and Asero Adire Market Traders Association paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, saying the approval would put the State first in digital marketing to the global world, thereby encouraging people to shop from the comfort of their homes.
Dr. Taiwo noted that the State, being a major producer of Adire, was faced with the challenge of social distancing occasioned by the pandemic ravaging the world, noting that his Ministry would collaborate the Ministry of Justice to apprehend defaulters of the laws guiding the establishment of the online mall.
Explaining the modalities involved, the Consultant to the Governor on Arts, Culture and Tourism, Miss. Adenrele Sonariwo, said the biometrics of Adire sellers, at both markets would be collated and trained on how to operate the application on their android mobile phones, disclosing that the Ministry was partnering with Salescabal, an online enterprise, to develop an online mall application called Adireogun, while its seal would be put on every fabric for authentication.
In their separate remarks, the Iyaloja of Asero Adire Market, Chief Kemi Oloyede and a representative of Iyaloja, Itoku Adire Market, Alhaja Modinat Oyetola, appreciated government’s support and passion to increase their sales, both locally and internationally, pledging their support for the success of the Dapo Abiodun administration.
