OGUN GOVERNMENT TO PROSECUTE FRAUDULENT TRAVEL AGENTS -SAYS DR. TOYIN TAIWO

The Ogun State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo FIIM, has disclosed that henceforth, any unregistered and uncertified travel agent, who also engage in fraudulent traveling process, would be prosecuted by the State government.
Dr. Taiwo, who stated this when the Ogun State Chapter of National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA), paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, said the present administration in the State would not condole duplicitous act, warning that the Ministry’s taskforce would be touring the State to separate ‘’the wheat from the chaff’’.
He urged the Association to furnish the Ministry with updated data of registered members, in order to deal with non-members who were defrauding the people, assuring an enabling environment for their business to thrive in the State.
In his contribution, a tourism expert, Prince Adetunji Fadina, noted that the act was tarnishing the image of the State, as clients, for fear of being duped, prefer to transact business with travel agents outside the State, saying there would be strict enforcement, especially in Ota area of the State, where about 80 percent of agents were not registered.
Speaking earlier, the State Coordinator, NANTA, Oluwaseyi Abass, expressed the Association’s readiness to work in synergy with the Ministry, calling on government to protect their interest in the course of redeeming the image of the Association.
