Ogun State Government has assured of providing necessary infrastructure to give prominence to traditional festivals, to further attract and expose tourists to the State’s cultural heritage and to preserve our deities and shrines because they are sacred.
The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo, made this known when the Obanire and Olori Alagemo Akile of Ijebuland, Engr. Oluleke Oludipe, paid him a   courtesy visit in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, noting that, part of the responsibility of the Ministry was to preserve deities and shrines and make them more sacred.

“We need to preserve our deities and shrines because they are sacred, for this reason, the government would construct good roads. We have been given mandate by the people and we are working tirelessly to ensure adequate infrastructure is put in place during traditional festivals”, he said.

Speaking earlier, Engr. Oludipe, commended Governor Abiodun on the provision of infrastructure, calling on government not to relent in its strive to ensure safety of lives and property, to attract more investors, as well as look into provision of good roads leading to the shrines during Agemo festival.

The Obanire revealed that Agemo was a major deity in Ijebuland, appealing to government to give more prominence to the festival, just like the Osun-Osogbo festival in Osun State, to enhance the State’s tourism potentials.
