TRACE TO BENEFIT FROM OGUN SECURITY TRUST FUND

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has assured Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) of consideration when the  Security Trust Fund becomes more operational, to boost their moral towards achieving effective road traffic management.

 The Governor gave the assurance while declaring open, the annual Corp Commander’s Conference, with the theme, ‘’Human Capital Development in Road Traffic Managements: Challenges and Prospects’’, held at the Valley View Auditorium, Abeokuta.

 Represented by the Special Adviser on Security, AIG Sola Subair (Rtd.), Prince Abiodun stated that the present administration was committed to ensuring that motorists and other road users enjoy well planned motorable roads across the State. “Road traffic safety is important, since the major responsibility of government and the constitution is to protect lives and property. TRACE being the agency saddled with the responsibility of protecting the lives of people on our roads deserves to be supported, in order to achieve efficient road service delivery’’, he said.

 Earlier in his welcome address, the corps-commander and Chief Executive Officers, Commander Olaseni Ogunyemi stated that this year’s theme was designed to build on past successes, for a more robust, versatile, intellectually sound and knowledge driven traffic managers.

 He posited that the initiative was expected to further drive the mission and vision of the Prince Dapo Abiodun administration in building our future together for a more safer traffic corridor, adding  that, “Capacity of Officers were being built through workshops and seminars to ensure effective service delivery”.

 In his paper Presentation, Professor Adesoji Adesanya from Nigeria Institute of Social and Economic Research (NISER), Ibadan, said the onus of ensuring that the quality of human capital available to TRACE lies in both the management and staff, adding that human capital, if properly harnessed, could influence organizational outcome, especially in the discharge of its responsibilities.

He stressed that investing in improving the skills and abilities of staff would result in quality service delivery, calling on TRACE to continue to invest in human capital development, which he noted entails; staff training, education, good welfare and other benefits.

Adesanya enjoined officers to show high level of commitment and not allow themselves to be hired or ‘poached’ by other agencies, after gaining more education or training experience.
