On the 24th of December, 2018, Hopebay College venue, Itire Bus Stop,Alaba Oro,was chosen this time around by Divine mandate team of Hon. Barr. Rita Orji, member Federal House of Representatives and chairperson House Committee on Diaspora matters representing Ajeromi-Ifelodun Federal Constituency Lagos to give out yuletide gifts to her constituents that she has been representing for the past three years and 7months.
As a working, innovative and creative federal legislator that knows her onion in the green chamber of the National Assembly, she has over the years facilitated several legacy projects in Ajeromi-Ifelodun constituency and empowerment programmes from 2015 till date.
As soon as Hon.Rita Orji arrived the venue with her divine mandate entourage the event commenced with light welcoming song, that elicited the already seated guests and friends that ‘Mama Empowerment of Ajegunle was in the venue.
Hon.Rita Orji used the opportunity to walk around each canopy to greet all her constituents, guests, party leaders and faithful, friends as well-dressed women of substance also seen hailing the good works of a woman who knows why he was elected in the green chamber from 2015 till date.
Two hours later, Hon. Rita Orji welcomed the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate,Mr.Jimi Agbaje and his deputy,Mrs.Oluwayemisi Busari and other guests to the event soon than later,Hon.Rita Orji presented a well-articulated speech without any formal paper to it.
As a trained lawyer cum networking magnate, speaking to the public was not a problem, she highlighted some of the achievements on how she constructed seven roads, sunk 49 boleholes across Ajeromi-Ifelodun federal constituency, employment opportunities to the youths and other projects to her credit. She complained also on some projects she intended to embark upon and how some of the ruling party leaders tried to scuttle her mission to the people.
In politics, irrespective of our various political parties in Ajegunle,we must work as one entity to bring massive development to the people not killings,oppression or intimidation. All guests and friends at the event were delighted and knew that Hon.Rita Orji was a God-sent federal legislator that came to liberate Ajeromi-Ifelodun people from legislative darkness to legislative light that has been poorly represented at the National Assembly for the past 16years by former legislators from the ruling political party in Africa.
No doubt, the crowd that attended the yuletide programme organized by Hon.Rita Orji was overwhelming as traditional rulers, Muslim scholars, all communities (ethnic groups) in Ajegunle, Christian leaders and associations, transport workers, artisans,traders,youth leaders, political pressure groups and just mention but a few were all part of Hon.Orji ‘s political largesse.
Hon. Rita Orji spoke extensively on the need for political followers and supporters to follow political leaders and contestants that have the heart of political development in Ajegunle and not those that take human lives as sacrifice for any electoral violence.
Mr. Jimi Agbaje was given opportunity to speak in few minutes where he introduced himself as the PDP governorship candidate that would liberate Lagos from capitalistic leadership that has enslaved the innocent Lagosians over the years. He officially introduced his deputy and other Ajeromi-Ifelodun House of Assembly constituency 1 and 11 contestants (Hon.Babatunde Yusuf and Engr. Oliver Abba) to the people to vote for them in 2019.
Another Ajegunle youth philanthropist, Mr. Francis Chima popularly called by friends and admirers as’Obama’ stormed into the venue to show his solidarity support for Hon. Rita Orji in 2019.
Hon. Rita Orji who was elated with the kind of personalities that graced the event quickly introduced Obama to the guests as one Ajegunle young philanthropist that believed so much on her legislative legacy. He stood before the guests to show his philanthropic support for Hon.Orji.
Obama also granted interview with some selected journalists at the event where he faulted the allegation that he never belonged to any political party in Ifelodun or Ajeromi but always in support of any political candidate that has love for the people with keen interest in grassroots empowerment.
Special song from an Ajegunle young fast-rising Yoruba female artist debuted in the name of Hon.Orji was sang alongside with her music band that thrilled the guests. Another young Igbo male artist also stole the event with his latest hit with Hon.Rita Orji’s name. It was a moment of jollification as guests were so elated seeing the federal legislator moving from different guests’ canopies to another to exchange her pleasantries in a smiling mood.
The highlights of the event began as Hon. Rita Orji took the lists of all the constituents calling each community to take their food items home for the yuletide celebration. Food items like bags of rice, bags of beans, wrappers, groundnut oil, cows, goats, cash gifts and other items were shared at the event according to each group represented.
Orji also commended everyone that attended the event and also pleaded with those who could not receive their own food items at the event due some little disruption of some youths in the area, that December 26,some food items would be shared at the constituency office.
The disruption is caused as a result bad leadership at the federal level; you can’t expect a hungry man to be patient where there is no food at his table, she pleaded.
