Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested one Charles Adam, a 39-year-old for impersonating a military officer.

The suspect who dressed in full military camouflage uniform was arrested on 24th October by a police patrol team from the Redemption Camp Division along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

According to a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, “trouble started for the fake military man when an operational vehicle of the Nigerian Army was passing and the suspect started running away in military uniform.

This aroused the suspicion of the police patrol team who saw the action of the suspect as a strange occurrence. The policemen subsequently gave him a hot chase and got him apprehended”.

Oyeyemi also stated that “he was taken before the DPO, Redemption Camp Division, CSP Olaiya Martins who thoroughly interrogated him; consequent upon which he confessed being a fake soldier. He further confessed using the uniform to escort vehicles and other illegal military duties”.

The DPO ordered for a search warrant to be executed in his house. Items recovered from him were Two pairs of green military trousers, One green belt, One green cardigan, One military green beret cap, One military face cap, One green mask, One pair military boots, One military knapsack, five different identity cards with his passport photograph and some military related documents.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu psc+ has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Federal Special Anti-robbery Squad (FSARS) for discreet investigation.
